Art Quilts

What is an Art Quilt?

We all  know what “art” is. Dictionaries supply us with definitions, such as:

  •  Briefly, it is an original exploration of a concept or idea, not a quilt made from a pattern. It is not simply a little different from the usual. An Art Quilt pushes quilt-world boundaries.
  • Something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings
  • Works created by artists: paintings, sculptures, etc., that are created to be beautiful or to express important ideas or feelings

Many quilters are artists. They create works of art which explore ideas, feelings, thoughts, landscapes, abstracts, and more. An art quilt does not follow a traditional pattern and can use both modern and traditional techniques.

Homeowners often buy art for their walls in order to beautify their surroundings and add interest and warmth to their homes. Next time you wish to add beautiful art to your home or workplace, think about the beauty, warmth, and pleasure of wall quilts. We have many to choose from. Here are just a few samples.
