Mary has been a quilter since1993 when she made her first quilt - a king size! She was immediately hooked and has been quilting ever since. Her favorite technique is appliqué. She also enjoys paper piecing because of its accuracy. Her husband, Jim, bought her a long arm quilting machine two years ago which makes quilting even easier. She lives in Texas in an area nestled in the trees and full of wild life including red foxes, a gray wolf, lots of deer, raccoons, crows, owls, squirrels (of course) and lots of birds. She finds them all very entertaining and her dog, Max, loves to bark at them and sometimes runs with the deer when he gets out of the yard. |

Description:
This is an old classic pattern, but I used bright colors for the Flying Geese and made them smaller than most I have seen. The colors remind me of the 1950's era. It's a great quilt to take an afternoon nap under and it has been prewashed so the colors won't bleed when washed again. It is also reversible.

This quilt took about 8 months to finish. It gets its name because of the fabric line "Grace" by 3 Sisters for Moda Fabric. It was fun to make since I love needle turn appliqué and hand quilting. Because of the color scheme some people might think this is a Christmas quilt. but it was made with the idea of cuddling up on a comfortable sofa with your quilt and a good book. The colors are red, dark brown, dark olive green and ecru.
The back of the quilt is all charm squares from the same fabric line. |
