If you are familiar with my quilts it is probably obvious that I love purple and I love florals. When I made the Butterfly Revue quilt I fell in love with the Simple Pleasures fabric line by Debbie Beaves for RJR fabrics, so I purchased the line in various colorways. I love the coordinates in this series and love the way that a simple square in a square block creates a secondary Pinwheel pattern when surrounded by opposite triangles. I mitered the corners on the borders to highlight the vibrant yellow daisies. The backing is a lavender floral and I quilted an all-over, feather-swirl design.

Pieced by a friend who was a meticulous seamstress; I quilted it after her passing. Her original label is on the back. This is a happy quilt, full of bright colors and swirling design. It is quilted with variegated bright thread in a swirling gingko leaf pattern. It will brighten up a wall, or the back of a chair.
If you desire, another label can be embroidered to cover the original, which is roughly in the center of the back.

This cheerful quilt is a Block of the Month pattern in which we were given the center panel and the patterns for 8 Log Cabin blocks. We had to create a ninth Log Cabin block and then, use sashings to create a quilt. My "Sister Quilter" and I decided to frame the center panel with 2 1/2 inch squares and yellow sashings as the panel was pretty boring on its own. Even then the quilt lacked excitement so I made patchwork heart blocks using the same fabrics in the 2 1/2 inch squares for the center of each heart. I decided to add the tulip blocks to incorporate more color and a more visually appealing quilt. It just kept getting bigger and bigger, but I am thrilled with the finished product. I used a white tone-on-tone backing and quilted an all-over, interlocking, feather design.

When I saw this quilt on the cover of a quilt magazine I knew I had to make it . . .exactly as on the cover. I contacted the designer and purchased the exact fabrics from her. The magazine article said "Sew a galaxy of chocolate and raspberry stars. This quilt is gorgeous with stars of multiple sizes! Sewn in rich browns and pink reproduction prints it is sure to become a family heirloom." The quilt is made entirely from The Cocheco Mills III collection by Judie Rothermel for Marcus Fabrics, www.marcusfabrics.com.
